SCREENINGS, QUARANTINE, COACHES

DAILY CHECK-IN 

HEALTH SCREENINGS



  • All coaches and athletes must be screened daily for signs/symptoms of COVID-19.

  • A screening and four questions must be asked and recorded for each athlete at the start of each practice.

  • Temperatures greater than 100.3 degrees should not participate and be sent home. Temperature must be taken by a certified coach.

  • Any athlete with positive symptoms cannot participate, should self isolate, and contact their health-care professional. 

  • Vulnerable individuals should not supervise or participate in any workouts. 

  • Contact tracing sheets will be kept on file for 30 days for each cohort.  

QUARANTINE/ISOLATION 

RETURN TO PLAY 



  • Surveillance system to identify symptomatic individuals and protect the high-risk asymptomatic population.

  • Identify promptly and isolate immediately.

  • Trace close contacts and must manage appropriately.

  • If an athlete or coach shows symptoms or temperature 100.4 or above, they are not allowed to return to practices/camps without a doctor’s note.

  • If a student or coach tests positive for Covid-19, contact tracing logs with names of members in their cohort group will be directed to quarantine per Washington County Health and Oregon Health Authority guidance.

  • The athletes and coaches within the individual’s cohort will be sent home immediately to begin quarantine.

  • The families will be notified by Team’s Coach when their athlete may have been exposed and what quarantine protocol to follow.

  • The individuals within the particular cohort will NOT be allowed back to practice until they have met one of the following requirements: Provided a written clearance from a doctor a negative test result* and have completed the required quarantine of 14 days.

AGE/HEALTH OF COACHES

All coaches and athletes who have signs or symptoms of illness to stay home when ill to decrease risk of viral transmission. “Vulnerable individuals” are defined by OHA as people age 60 years and older and others with serious underlying health conditions, including high blood pressure, chronic lung disease, diabetes, obesity, asthma, and those whose immune systems are compromised such as by chemotherapy for cancer and other 

conditions requiring such therapy.”

NO VISITORS

  • Limit visitor access to only essential visitors. Essential visitors include home care workers and others who provide essential services, such as health care and emergency maintenance.

  • No parents or friends can watch workouts or practices. They must stay in their cars until pick up time.

FACILITIES, PPE, EQUIPMENT

WORKOUT / GAME LIMITATIONS 

  • On-site total is limited to 50 people total (Extreme) 75 (High) depending on county rating.

  • All parents and people in attendance will practice social distancing.  If people are not following social distancing protocols, game or practice may be cancelled. 

  • Forest Grove Youth Baseball reserves the right to not allow parents and fans to become spectators at events.  This will create a safe environment and limit exposure to multiple cohorts.  This will change throughout the season as restrictions change.

  • Workouts should be conducted in “cohorts” of athletes with the same athletes working out together weekly to limit exposure.

  • Maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet between each individual at all times. 

  • Masks will be worn at all times by players, coaches, and spectators.

ON-SITE SOCIAL DISTANCING OFFICER

-A representative from the home team / practicing team will ensure the protocols listed in this document and any other protocols set forth by Westside Youth Baseball Organization.  

FACILITIES CLEANING


  • Prior to entering a facility, hard surfaces must be wiped down and sanitized (chairs, furniture, weight room equipment, bathrooms, training room, etc.).

  • Individuals should use hand sanitizer before touching any surfaces or participating in workouts. 

  • Hand sanitizer will be available to individuals as they transfer from place to place. 

  • Appropriate clothing/shoes should be worn at all times to minimize sweat from transmitting onto equipment/surfaces. 

  • Athletes must be encouraged to shower and wash workout clothing immediately upon returning to home.

RESTROOM

Restrooms that are used will be sprayed and wiped down prior to the start of practice / game and then sprayed and wiped down after practice / game.  Spray used will be effective against COVID-19.

MASKS

  • Masks are to be worn at all times by coaches, players, and spectators.

  • Plastic shields covering the entire face will not be allowed during participation due to the risk of unintended injury.

  • Wearing masks is not an option.  Refusal to wear masks will result in possible removal from the team. 

  • Coaches not enforcing social distancing, mask, and cleaning protocols will be removed from coaching positions. 

PPE

  • Supplies/Equipment according to local health department guidelines will be provided by parents in coordination with Forest Grove Youth Baseball

  • Parents will be informed of mask requirements for both players and spectators.  

HYDRATION/FOOD



  • All students must bring their own labeled water bottle. 

  • Water bottles must not be shared.

  • Hydration stations ( water fountains, etc.) should not be utilized.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND 

EQUIPMENT

  • No shared athletic equipment (towels, clothing, shoes, or sports specific equipment) between athletes.

  • Athletes should wear their own appropriate workout clothing (do not share clothing). Individual clothing/towels should be washed and cleaned after every workout. 

  • All athletic equipment, including balls, should be cleaned periodically and prior to the next workout. 

  • Individual drills requiring the use of athletic equipment are permissible, but the equipment should be cleaned prior to use by the next individual.

  • No physical contact such as high-fives, fist bumps, and hugs.
