2021 Spring Update/Survey

Forest Grove Youth Baseball Families,

I hope the letter finds your family safe and healthy. FGYB has been hard at work navigating a way for your kids to play baseball this season. While it was very unfortunate that we were unable to have a season last year; we are hopeful that with the necessary plans in place, we can have a safe and fun 2021 spring season for players, coaches and fans.

Attached is a survey for families interested in committing their child to the 2021 spring season. We are working to secure field space for our T-ball and Rookie players. For our competitive teams our intent would be to play inside of JBO at the competitive level (Minor, Juniors and Seniors at National, American, and Federal skill levels) if there is indeed a JBO season. We learned last summer and fall that there are other options for our kids to safely play baseball outside of Westside JBO. There are many local tournaments and other school communities committing to playing baseball this spring. If Westside JBO states they will have a season, fees will be similar to last year and due at evaluations or the start of practice for T-ball and Rookies. Our biggest hurdle to playing baseball is FIELDs. Our board is working hard with the city of FG and the school district itself to utilize every option we have to secure playing fields.

Please know we are committed to your kids, to baseball and to this community! We are meeting twice a month as a board to work with all the changes that happen daily amid COVID19. Our FG family means the world to us and we want to see everyone on the fields ASAP. COACHES and VOLUNTEERS: Unlike other years, we will need more parents involved to be able to ensure kids are protected and safe during the season. We will be working with smaller groups which require more coaches. Aside from coaches, we will need help sanitizing and cleaning gear. Even if you have never coached, we can use your help. It’s a great opportunity to give back to the community and a great way to help kids build life skills.
